Kozue who is now a member of the Fujimi High School volleyball club, challenges three members from Jidoin High School, the winners of the inter-high competition for three consecutive years, to a volleyball match before the prefectural tournament. However, Kozue is brutally defeated by the three Yagisawa sisters' perfect trinity attack. Coach Hongō advises an anguished Kozue to "cast away the pride of Attack No. 1." After cementing the team's unity, Fujimi High School finally manages to reach the final round in the prefectural tournament. However, during the match, Kozue is told that Tsutomu, who has been her moral support, is in critical condition because of a traffic accident.
