TMS Entertainment Announces New Poker-Themed Project HIGH CARD With Kakegurui’s Homura Kawamoto and Hikaru Muno
TMS Entertainment Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; President: Tadashi Takezaki) has announced HIGH CARD, a new poker themed project, with the release of its key visual and accompanying commentary from creators Homura Kawamoto and Hikaru Muno, of Kakegurui, and character artist, Ebimo. The project is in collaboration with KADOKAWA Co., Ltd. and Sammy Co., Ltd.

About HIGH CARD
The title HIGH CARD refers to the weakest combination of all poker hands, in which all five cards in hand lack pairs and have different suits.
HIGH CARD is a poker-themed project in which it is expected to take a variety of different formats, including anime, manga, and novel of the title. Plans to collaborate with Sammy Co., Ltd.’s new entertainment business venture, “m” is in the works.
While TMS Entertainment has worked on numerous renowned anime series, such as LUPIN THE 3rd and Case Closed, HIGH CARD is TMS’ original franchise.
TMS has worked with Homura Kawamoto, the creator of the gambling-themed series, Kakegurui. The series has garnered huge success and has been adapted into different formats, including anime series and live-action movies. Hikaru Muno, who is responsible for the novelization of Kakegurui is also working for HIGH CARD project as well.
New visual of Joe’s face and his Gear over the numerously scarred body is released! He looks drastically different from his past self, calling himself Nomad now. He will wander around to find his place. Beside Joe is the humming bird with beautiful feathers, symbolizing his longing for home in the episodes.

I recommend that you start by taking look at the main visual, as it paints a clear picture of the world of HIGH CARD, and the highly active characters featured within the series. For those able to pick up on the essence of the series from the visual, please watch. Those still unsure of what to make of the project, however, should standby until more information is released.
Profile: Homura Kawamoto is a manga writer, known for works such as Kakegurui, Kakegurui Twin, Greatest M, Witch War, and Cheat Slayer In 2013 he was awarded Honorable Mention for the “Gangan JOKER Newcomer Manga Award” for Best Original Titles. He is Hikaru Muno’s older brother.

The main visual masterfully encapsulates the unusual atmosphere within HIGH CARD that we have tried to create. Every twist and turn in the story, showcases the distinctive influences and flavors of those involved in the HIGH CARD project. The drama woven into the story, amplified by the characters’ intensely contrastive emotions of love and hate, will captivate audiences everywhere. I am looking forward to the release of the finished work!
Profile: Hikaru Muno is both a salaryman and a writer. He has taken on a variety of projects, having worked on novels, game scenarios, original mangas, manuals, and board games alike. His work includes projects such as, the novels, Kakegurui Trip and Kakegurui Joker, the manual, Mediocre Job Offer Strategy, and the game, Henna Kanji. He is Homura Kawamoto’s younger brother.

I was tasked with having to design a considerable number of characters this time and feel that because there are a lot of beautiful costumes and accessories, the finished product will be aesthetically fun. For the main visual, I made sure to incorporate elements that capture the essence of the world of HIGH CARD. The story and setting both include a lot of the visual and thematic elements that I personally love to see, so I look forward to the release as a fan! I hope that everybody can share my excitement as well!
Profile: Ebimo is a Tokyo-based illustrator who predominately works on writing books and character design. Their work includes “How to Draw Daring Poses” (Hobby Japan), “How to Draw Beloved Boys” (MdN), among others.
