During the Heian period, Hikaru Genji was born to the Emperor and his favorite consort, Kiritsubo no Koi. Genji loses his mother when he is three years old, but grows up to be a handsome young man. He falls illicitly in love with Fujitsubo no Miya, a consort of the Emperor, his father, who looks just like his mother. As if seeking relief from this anguish, Hikaru has relationships with multiple women, including Rokujo no Miyasudokoro and Yugao. A love that remains out of reach, violent power struggles, and the sins......Follow the story as it weaves the tale of half of Hikaru's life, from his birth to his exile in Suma.
