The story is set in an unmanned space station abandoned by human beings in the distant future. Awakened from a long slumber, Midge, the chironomid, meets Doc, a cricket, and Marbo, a spider. Midge is surprised to learn that they were brought out from Earth for harsh experiments, and in that brief moment also hears from the support robot that the ship does not have enough power. Plus, their natural enemies, frogs, are on board the ship as well! Will Midge and the crew be successful in their attempt to escape the space station and head for Earth in order to live and return home...!?
