Baki Hanma is on the verge of death after being poisoned by one of the most sinister criminals, Ryuukou Yanagi's Poison Hand. Kaiou Retsu, Hanma's rival and sworn friend takes him to China. He encourages Baki, who can't even move because of the poison, to participate in the "Great Raitai Tournament", China's largest martial arts tournament which is held once every 100 years. It seems insane, but Retsu has a secret plan to remove the poison from Baki's body.
In addition to all the strong men from across China, muscle monster Biscuit Oliva, Mohammad Alai Jr. who has inherited his genes from a legendary boxer, and the strongest man in the world, Yujiro Hanma, will also be participating in the great tournament.
